Founded by brothers Michael and Ryan Wilson in 2017, STEM Education Australia was established to deliver world leading educational resources and training, and inspire young people across the nation. With a background in science and engineering, STEM Education Australia is supported by a team with over 50 years of combined educational experience across all age groups and ability levels. Having experienced and delivered a range of STEM outreach programs offered by other organisations, STEM Education Australia has developed the “Branch Out” outreach program to excite and enthral the young and young at heart while aligning with the National Curriculum. In addition to it’s outreach programs, STEM Education Australia provides “Lesson In A Box” class material and teacher professional development to ensure students are engaged with STEM throughout the year.
Michael Wilson (BSc(Hon), MScComm, PhD)
After attended Australian Space School and NYSF during high school, Michael undertook a Bachelor of Science at Flinders University. Subsequently moving to Canberra to take up a position in the Shell Questacon Science Circus , delivering outreach programs in regional centres across Australia. Upon completion of his masters degree, Michael returned to South Australia where he began a PhD in Chemistry and became president of The Young Scientists of Australia (South Australian Chapter). Michael has since relocated to Melbourne to Complete his PhD at The University of Melbourne.
During high school Ryan Participated in RoboCup, Youth ANZAAS, NYSF, and NCSS and was awarded Young Citizen of the Year for his work with Legacy and the RSL, in organising the Poppy Rain of Remembrance, an event that garnered international news coverage. After graduation, Ryan moved to Queensland to begin a Bachelor of Engineering at The University of Queensland. While at The University of Queensland, Ryan coached a number of rugby teams at St Josephs Gregory Terrace and volunteered for positions within engineering and outreach groups at the university. This culminated in the organisation of Youth ANZAAS 2017, in conjunction with The Australian Association for the Advancement of Science, Young Scientists of Australia and The University of Queensland.
With over 30 years experience with children as an au pair, and a teacher aide, Rita Tobin has an extensive knowledge of early childhood development and experience in working with special needs children. Working mainly with Prep/Year One children, Rita has a passion for working with children and helping them learn about the world around them.
As a Secondary school teacher with over 40 years experience in maths and computing, as a coordinator eand an administrator, Jim provides award winning insight into senior education and class planning.
With more than 40 years of experience in financial management and accounting positions in private and government agencies in Queensland and South Australia Colleen contributes financial expertise and structure for start-up companies including drafting business cases, budget creation and management and controls to ensure financial viability and compliance.
